My clock time changes frequently..

My computer's clock changes to 1 january 2006(that is the time when i bought my computer)whenever my computer shuts down or is turned down directly from the switch(means not correctly shut down)

please tell me what is the problem

so do i have to buy that battery only or i have to change d whole mobo or wherever it is inserted

Just the battery, its a small coin sized Cr2032 battery, and shouldn't cost more than a coffee
turn the Pc off, remove the old one and replace the new one, then when you power up go into bios and set the time for today,
they usually last a couple of years so its not often you will need to do it

just rember to pull the power from the mb and power supply..most new mb keep 5v on going for sleep ..quick boot..you dont want to be called sparky.
