MY NEW BUILD KEEPS FREEZING?

Hi all need help,

Just done a new build and having a problem with random freezing,

Its happened few times while just browsing net but happens nearly everytime i play a game, its random with game freezes sometimes 2 mins in sometimes i can get half hour or more.


MOTHERBOARD: Asus Rampage IV Formula
CPU: Intel I7-3930k @ 3.2GHz
GPU: Radeon 6870 1GB
RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR3 1600
PSU: 850w

Try Tapping the "TAB" button before windows boots , enter the memory test&Diag function , try testing ur ram for errors ( extended ) , if none found , try re installing windows

I agree with SkyWalker1726. I've seen that in the past a few times. Once it was a RAM issue and another time it was an issue with a short with a screw stuck behind the motherboard.

Thanks for your replys, it was to do with the ram, the cause of problem was the ram was getting too much volts. The Motherboard is on auto 1.6v and my dims are 1.5v so was an easy fix, just turned volts down in bios.

So by default the motherboard over-volted the RAM? This is unusual and usually a smaller level of extra voltage to the RAM won't cause a freeze up.

I really hope this fixes the issue permanently for you. I would continue to monitor the situation.
