I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400gs:

The drivers I'm using are: 295.73

These drivers work perfectly with my card. Does there come a point when it doesn't even matter if I get the "brand-spanking new" Nvidia drivers? These newer drivers are typically aimed at newer end cards, so will I be okay staying at 295.73 forever?

Well there comes a time when the drivers may seem pointless from either a bug standpoint, or a performance standpoint. However the thing you have to realize is that the drivers are also for compatability. So if there is a new program or game u wanna run and you dont have the newest drivers, u maybe not be able to run it.

if it’s not broke don’t fix it.

If you’re happy with the way your setups is running currently then leave it.
Consider updating drivers if and when you experience performance/compatibility issues. Unless curiosity gets the better of you ;)
