Replacement power cord keeps resetting when system off?

I've had the replacement power cord for awhile now, but I notice when I
don't turn the system on for a few weeks, or even just a few days, that
red button on it pops up. I've never had it pop up while using the
system, only when it's turned off and plugged into a surge protector. I
pushed it down a few days ago, didn't turn teh Xbox on since, and when
I looked just now, it had popped back up. I've misplaced the manual
that came with it, but out of curiosity, what would be causing this, if
the system isn't on, and it'a already going through a surge protector?

I have the same thing happen when ever the power goes out, even if its just
a few seconds. When the power is restored it must trip the breaker.

perhaps its doing what its intended for?, or you have a faulty cable that
trips at the slightest provocation. Also, most so called "surge protectors"
aren't worth a dang thing, especially those 30$ jobbers at Radio Scrap. If
you really wanna protect your stuff get a big UPS instead (pricy, but some
insurance companies wont pay for fried equipment if the customer doesnt use
one, surge protectors dont count all the time).
