Lenovo laptops failure to connect to projectors

Hello,i am having problems connecting a Lenovo R61i laptop to an external screen or project. i have the same problem with the lenovo n200 laptop. fn+f7 is not sending anything to the screen on both laptops

i have tried putting attaching a second monitor in intel's display and its still failing. looks like a lenovo problem , its happening on both the lenovo R61i and lenovo n200 laptops. hp laptops are working
