Video editing power machine

Hello,
I'm making the jump from Mac to building my own machine. I'd like to run both Apple OSX and Win 7 Pro IF possible but am more interested in dual processor speed for more realtime performance. Run Avid Symphony 6, Edius and Autodesk Smoke. Looking for advise on best motherboard (lots of slots) and processors. Many thanks for good advise!!

If you're going to run a hackintosh, the best advice I can give you regarding motherboards is to buy a Gigabyte Z77 plain vanilla board. The hackintosh community loves them. Here's an example:

Currently Lion. Again, running OSX is not critical but would be nice. I'd rather end up with a great editing machine that saves enough money over a comparable MAc. Just tired of spending 6k+ but they are nice machines. I'd like to keep it at 4k this time and dual processing is pretty important for pushing video around. I have 6 and 12 core Westmere Macs now and they are great but too expensive. Avid seems to prefer PCs it seems anyway. I have and extra nVidia GTX 580 and Kona 3G.
