Hello there, recently I have had problems with my computer crashing while gaming. When it freezes everything stops working except the mouse which I can still move but not click anything; any sound that is playing becomes very 'buzzy' and becomes long and drawn out and the only way to 'un-freeze' it is by turning it on and off again. I figured it might be the new Catalyst 12.4 drivers which were causing it but I have re-installed 12.3 and it still seems to be happening. I also thought it might be my GPU overheating, but the last time it crashed it was sitting at 75 degrees which is what it normally sits at while gaming. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong or any way to find out what is causing my PC to freeze?
Here are my specs:
Windows 7 64-Bit
AMD Athlon x4 II 645 @ 3.10 GHz
XFX Radeon HD 6850 2GB GPU
8GB 1333MHz RAM
If any other information is required I would be happy to post it.
If the mouse still works and the graphics are screwed up, I would thing it's gpu related, maybe a bad power supply.
Ususally overheating, will completely lock up the computer.
graphics are screwed up might be defective GPU, game bug.
My PSU is the CIT 650W Dual 12V Rail. My CPU temp is always around 30 degrees. The graphics don't screw up, they just freeze and nothing will happen until I restart my PC. I don't get a BSOD, everything just freezes except the mouse. It happens with most games I play. Recently I was playing Diablo 3, but it was happening before that.
