7970 or xfire'd cards..

Hey all. Looking to update my graphics card here pretty soon . Right now I am running a MSI r6950 HD TF II OC Edition. Really considering a 7970 card. I COULD be talked into running two cards though. With Kepler coming well, tomorrow I am anticipating some price drops. I would prefer to stick with a single card, but i could be convinced otherwise.

2x GTX 570?
2x GTX 580?
somehing you are running?

Whats the verdict?.

I've heard so many issues with SLI and Crossfire. I would stick with 1 card also.

I would get the 7970 if you want it now, or see what the 680 brings when it releases this week.

I'd also suggest waiting for a bit to see what the 680 brings. especially sings Nvidia tends to offer better drivers (though also with higher prices).

otherwise, as a general rule of thumb, I prefer to stick with 1card if it's a fresh purchase, which would allow you to get a 2nd card for xfire/sli in the future if you'll ever need it. a 2X GPU setup right off the bat only leaves you room for 3/4 GPUs which can get ugly, or you'll end up buying another 2X of whatever is available in the future...

+1, This is what I'll be doing. I'm just waiting for the Benchmarks to make my decision, to go with one of the new cards or Hunt down another 6950.
