I have a Nokia 6600 and I believe that they can use real tones. I was
wondering if you could help me out with a few questions regarding real tones
on the Nokia 6600.
Do real tones actually work on the Nokia 6600?
What file type (and extension) do real tones need to have to work on the
Nokia 6600?
Is there a free program that will convert MP3 or WAV files to the correct
format to be used as a real tone on the Nokia 6600?

Does the PC Suite do the same job, or does this Multimedia Converter
do something additional?

Hi Hindry,

Yes they do. I have downloaded one from the web. It works, but at
3.50 GBP a throw it is expensive!

Not sure - but see below

I don't really know why you would want to do this.
Using Cellular data suite that ships with the Nokia 6600 - connect
your 6600 - just go to "file transfer" and transfer an MP3 or a WAV
file from your PC into the "digital" folder on the phone. This will
auto convert it for you into a format that the 6600 can use. The file
in the 6600 will also be smaller than the size of the MP3 on the PC
due to conversion.
Then when you go to "assign ringing tone" on the contacts menu, you
will see the name of the tone you have downloaded there - which will
be the filename.
It plays well enough, within the limitations of the 6600, I mean
you're not getting an Apple iPod quality MP3 ringtone but hey - it's
only a bit of fun right? :-)
The only glitch I have noticed is that the 6600 has a tendency to "cut
off" the first couple of seconds of the sound file.
Perhaps that wasn't what you asked - but there you go.
