Hey Tom's Hardware!

I used to keep up with everything cpu/gpu/ram/hdd, but no more. I've been using my work laptop to play D3 and it just isn't cutting it.

Purchasing: Next couple of weeks

Budget range: Cap is $800

Usage: Gaming

Overlocking: Yes, moderately

Parts not required: Keyboard, mouse, monitor

Here are the pieces I'm looking to put together into a nice modular machine which will also allow me to upgrade down the road:

Core i5 2500k (will OC it moderately, forums said stock cooler was good enough for this and I will monitor temperatures) ($220)

ASRock Z68 EXTREME4 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ($184)

OR

Open Box ASUS Maximum IV Gene-Z ($128)

Radeon HD 6870 1GB $(170)

Seagate Momentux XT 500gb 7200 rpm hybrid drive ($100)

8gb ddr ram ($50)

Still looking for a tower/PSU. What's the minimum PSU I should accept? Would like the keep options open for SLI later...

Any recommendations on improvements in the same price range?

I really appreciate the advice!

Dont get an openbox motherboard...its not worth it. If you are considering sli, i'd prob get a 750W psu. And any tower will work. I have had god experiences with rosewill. Id probably just get a 7200 rpm barracuda and use the extra money to buy this gpu...
