First Time Builder + Budget Build

Hello everyone,

My first time building a computer so please be nice.

Approximate Purchase Date: This week

Budget Range: $300 Before Rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: SC2, minor music & video production, maybe diablo

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, mouse, monitor, graphics card (Geforce GT240), DVD Player?, windows 7

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, microcenter

Country: US of A

Parts Preferences: Intel

Overclocking: No, maybe in the future

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1280x1024, 1440x900,

Additional Comments: I have an old gateway, can I use the dvd burner drive from that? What about the harddrive (note sure what type) and ram 4gb? Also, I will upgrade later to a better cpu so I want the motherboard to be ivy-bridge proof. i3-2100 is $80 at microcenter as opposed to the g620 $40. But I plan on upgrading later so I don't need to play on ultra settings right now since I play on a crappy old desktop on low settings for sc2.

Here's a list of the things I was thinking:

CPU: Intel G620 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0367906 $50
Case: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0351733 $40
MOBO: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388327 $110
Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 $60

How does it look?

BTW, on a real tight budget. I can't spend a penny more than what I have. I'll be saving more for the future. Thanks for any help.

I can't help much within this tight budget . But have a look:

    Motherboard & RAM: $125- Biostar TZ77B & Corsair Vengeance 8GB

    PSU & HDD: $103- CoolerMaster GX450 & WD Cavier Blue 500GB

    CPU: $90- (Microcenter) i3-2100

    Total (Excluding Rebates): 317 USD

    Rebates: 10 USD

Salvage the DVD Burner from the old computer, and the GPU, if possible the case also.
  2. Would i be able to use the g620 cpu with that motherboard? That actually looks pretty good... maybe i should just wait... i'm such an impulse buyer :o

    Also, does newegg charge tax?

Yes you can use G620 with the motherboard

If possible wait till you get some more money.

Tax depends on where you live. In shopping cart , enter you zip code and see if they charge extra.
