okay so I've been waiting for my locals to receive their radeon hd 7850's. But I was looking at the 6950 1gb version, and the price lowered to 250 dollars. I've been considering it, but not sure if its worth it compared to the 7850. (lower power consumption, and 2gb of ram)

I saw some benchmarks online, and they seemed pretty on par, other then the 6950 getting a bit of an edge in some applications, but not by much.

So if anyone could help me figure out which card to get, that would be greatly appreciated.

here is the 6950 i was considering.

And the 7850 i want at the moment is either the twin frozr edition or the sapphire over clocked edition.

I have no personal experience with either of these cards but my instinct would be to go for the 7850 because its newer and lower power consumption. The only other thing I know is that there are a fair amount of reviews on newegg for the 6950 complaining about it being loud. If that is an issue for you, then go for the 7850.

the 7850 is basically better in every way. You can OC it to beat the 7870 easily if you choose to.

An OCed 7850 almost performs like a 580 so the 7850 would definitely be my choice.

I'm not sure when the rest of the Kepler line is coming out but I would wait for those, too.

Hey thanks for all the answers people. I'm going for the sapphire radeon hd 7850 overclocked edition. And i would wait for kepler, but i already waited for ati to releases their cards. and they are usually on par when it comes to cards in the same price range.
