Hi Everyone,

I have an oppurtunity to buy two additional GTX 580s at $200 AUD each. I have an i7 2600k @ 4.2 Ghz for now. I also have a 1000W Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold Power supply.

My question is: Can i run all three of these cards at once with maybe a little Overclocking headroom?

Thanks.

Well the 3 GTX580's on their own are about 750 watts.Combined with the rest of your PC you should be at around 900watts.So it should be fine and you do have room for O.C.ing.

How many HDD's do you have?

Two, Three including an SSD. But they don't draw too much power.

i won'y suggest 3x gtx 580s.two are able to max out any thing!a quality 900w will run 580 SLi fine.TX950w,Antec HCG 900w,pc power and cooling 950w are some units that perform well.

I have to buy both for a total of $400 AUD. Can't just have one of them unfortunately. I already have one, and a motherboard to support 3 Way SLI. So i may as well use it :)

x3 GTX580's will be such a nice setup.Don't forget to O.C. your CPU because it won't be able to keep up with a x3 GTX580's.

The smallest PSU certified by nVidia for twin 580'ss 900 watts. The smallest for 3-way is 1200 watts

http://www.geforce.com/Active/en_US/en_US/pdf/PSU.pdf

In Guru3D's game test suite testing......

One 580 gets 616 fps
Two 580's gets 953 fps (55% increase over 1 card)
Three 580 gets 1030 fps (8% increase over 2 cards)

High End Desktop
2600k OC'd to 4.8 Ghz
Three 580's (stock no OC)
2 RAM modules
1 BR Drive
2 HD's
1 SSD
5 USB (mouse, KB, phone, camera, thumb drive)
1 Card Reader (drop 11 watts if not used)
5 fans
90% load
15% capacitor aging

Recommended Minimum: 1059 watts

I'd wanna be 10% more than that in order to maintain enough voltage stability to hot that 4.8 GHz OC ..... not to mention ..... no OC on the 580's ????? I don't think so.

I put in the information I knew and it came up to 855 watts. The only thing I did not know was the fans and the CD drive but that's give or take 20 watts.Even with the O.C. you have plenty of heardroom.
