OK, so about a week ago, I posted a thread that put the FX4100 and 965 against each other for a gaming CPU. The 965 was the favorite of the group. But now the FX6100 suddenly dropped in price in the shop I'm looking at. It's now a bit cheaper than the 965. The 960T on the other hand is a bit more expensive than the 965. I will be pairing the winning CPU with an Asrock 970 PRO3, 8GB Kingston 1333Mhz RAM, CoolerMaster Elite 460 RS-460-PSAP-J3 PSU, AMD HD6750 1GB GDDR5 and a CoolerMaster Hyper TX 3 cooler. So which one will perform the best in Battlefield 3?
Thanks in advance.

965BE by a mile.

The 6100 performs worse than the 4100 in games because it's slower. If you overclocked it 300mhz, it would perform on par with the 4100. If you must go AMD I would recommend the 965BE first. 960T is okay if you can overclock it. FX4170 is the next best choice.

I'd seriously consider a better video card if you expect to play Battlefield 3, and that psu is a joke.

Haha, I was already told that. The Graphics card was bought to replace an 8600GT 512MB when BF3 released, and the PSU to power the Card. It's good enough to power my system, not much more though.

1440x900. I'm not looking for Ultra Graphics. It's just that with my Athlon x2 6000+ I get about 25FPS on low in BF3. My friend with an Athlon II x3 @3.2Ghz with my Graphics card and the same PSU get's 45FPS on high...

That's because BF3 MP uses more than 2 cores. A better graphics card would really make a difference along with a quad core cpu.

You should look at this:

The 965 paired with like a Radeon HD 7850 will probably let you get close to 45-55FPS in BF3 on Ultra if you're playing at 1440x900. More if you push that CPU with some overclocking.

Yeah, I was planning on an HD7850, but that's a bit far in the future, maybe by the end of the school year I will have enough for it and a new PSU to go with it ;)

I would definitely go with the Phenom II 965. From the benchmarks done the 6000 Bulldozers are some of the worst performers in games, even worse than the 4100’s and they aren’t great either. You should be able to get decent frame rates from the 965 when paired with a good video card.
