Hello everyone, I'm planning to build my first computer soon. I was just wondering if this would be a decent set up, I was also planning to use it for gaming.

Specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 455 Rana 3.3GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Desktop Processor
Graphics Card: MSI R7750-PMD1GD5/OC Radeon HD 7750
Motherboard: ASRock 880GM-LE FX AM3+ AMD 880G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Power Supply: CORSAIR Gaming Series GS500 500W
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0
Burner: ASUS 24X DVD Burner
Monitor: ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor

If it isn't, what would you guys recommend?

this wont even bite into your games at medium settings. might want to go with a intel pentium g620, a h61 mobo, earthwatts 430w power supply, antec one, and a ve247h monitor.

might want to pick up a 6790, 6850 or 7770 if you even want to play at medium high settings.

just to tell you, pentiums beat fx chips in games

So, even if I upgraded to a AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE, and a AMD Radeon 6870, it wouldn't make much of a difference?

I mean, the set up I listed won't even play games at high settings?

Sorry if I come out as a total newbie, it's my first time building this machine and I just needed the best advice.

And how much better would the Pentium G620 be compared to this AMD processor?

Thanks for the advice.

well AMD lost the gaming market when it comes to CPU's period everyone of the AMD CPU's get stomped by sandy bridge CPU's at any given price range.

when looking at these benchmarks look specifically for the game benchmarks

here is the pentium g620 vs the AMD x3 455

here is the pentium g850 vs the Phenom II X4 965

also note the g850 is $87

here is the i3 2120 vs phenom II x4 965

i3 2120 is $7 more

If you're willing to overclock, then AMD is worth the money. Otherwise, stick with intel.

What is your total budget? Based on your parts, I'm guessing it's around $500, so here's a build based on that (if you live near a microcenter)

$60 ($40 after MIR)

with a 6870, you can play most games on high. cpu wont make much of a difference. it only affects it by like 34-8 frames. its all gpu
