New to VPN

At work we have a Linksys RV0041 VPN router and I have been asked to set up a VPN so that an employee's laptop can tunnel to our network (from different locations). It has to use IPsec also. I understand VPN in a very general way but I do not know where to start. Does anyone have experience with setting up a VPN on this router? What client software should I use? We would prefer to not use a 3rd party service if we don't need to.
