Gtx 680 @ 1080p

On a 22" 1080p monitor is there a real benefit of the 680 over the 580?
I mainly just play BF3 and SW as far as anything graphic intensive.

i5 750
750w crossair
4 gb 1600 ram
OCZ agil 3 120gb

In my humble opinion, I wouldn't buy the 680GTX if I already had a 580GTX. There would be a performance boost, but would it be enough to justify the $500-$600 price tag? Just for another 20 fps? If you had a 9800GTX+ like me (please, don't be jealous), then obviously the 680GTX would be worth it. Of course, waiting for Nvidia to release better drivers down the road will help boost productivity making the 680GTX even better. But, it's up to you. Just my two cent's worth.

You'll be glad you tossed the extra 100$ in a year. If you're on a tight budget, get the 7870 as it offers similar performance to the 580, draws way less power, has 2gb of vram (not that it really matters @ 1080p, but still) and is cheaper.

Thanks. I have seen a few reviews and didn't notice a huge increase but I think I will go ahead and pull the trigger.

Depends on whether or not ya happy enough w/ ya performance.....and to an extent what game ya playing.

For example ....

680 gets 57 fps on BF3 for $500 ($8.77 per frame)
580 gets 43 fps on BF3 for $400 ($9.30 per frame)

The 680 clearly has a better bang for the buck but is the32% improvement worth the extra $100 it to ya ?

I'm also assuming you mean ultra settings and 4x AA?
