New build won't start up

just got done building a new pc today, and I can't get it to do anything. the fans and drives and CPU fa will kick in but I can't get any picture on screen from on board or dedicated video cards. also, when trying to shut off computer, holding down power button does not work, I have to flip the switch on the psu, any ideas guys? all help appreciated

Pull everything off except the motherboard, cpu, and 1 stick of ram and see if it will POST beep. If it does, slowly start adding back components. I found I had to boot w/o discrete graphics card and set the BIOS to check for discrete first.
