Is 55C a safe temp for AMD FX 4100 under load?

On idle my CPU (FX-4100) is at about 40-45C. Under load it goes up to about 50-55C in like BF3 and such.

Is that a safe temperature for the CPU to be at or around?

55C is fine, but I would check the max temp with a synthetic bench like prime 95 or intel burn test.

Once you nail down the worst-case scenario temps, then you don't have to worry if one program or another will make your CPU too hot.

Ok thanks for the info, and would you happent o know, if when applying thermal paste, if I apply too much does that raise temps or does adding too much thermal paste not affect the CPU temps?
