I currently own an AMD965@3.91, I have cf hd7950's oc, and I'm currenty dealing with a cpu bottleneck in some cases, how much better performance would an i5 2500k deliver or should I wait for Ivy bridge, budget is a concern since the new gpu setup cost a pretty peeny! Thanks for the advice

Hello,

The AMD you have is ok. However the 2500k is much better. Since you have a high overclock though - I would really recommend waiting for Ivy if you are so inclined to upgrade.

Take a look here, you will notice your CPU is 2 tiers below your current one, and Toms recomends waiting until you have a 3 tier difference to notice an upgrade:

If you wait for Ivy - I'm sure it will be 1 more tier above the 2500K.
