Which cpu mobo combo

i5 2500K & Asus Maximus  IV Gene-Z/GEN3, Intel Z68

Or

i5 3570K & Asus P8Z77-M PRO

Mainly for gaming with a little video editing and googling, single gpu until 2 years time, too last a good 4 years and a slight over clock to 4ghz later on down the line.

I'd actually reverse them and say 2500k with the cheaper motherboard.

Not sure why you'd be spending $180 on a board here; I'd look a little lower personally. And if you're planning on overclocking, the i5-2500k will go further because it dissipates heat more effectively, although the 3570k does slightly better in GHz-to-GHz performance.

Basically a toss-up under normal circumstances if you ask a lot of people, though I'd say the 2500k has a higher ceiling.

Get the i5-3570k and the asus pro. If your only doing a slight oc, the ib will be perfectly fine. You also say you want it to last at least 4 years, if that's the case, get the CPU that supports pci-3.0. In 4 years we will most likely have gpu's that can utilize the higher bandwidth.
