SATA 2 vs. SATA 3 cable

What is thedifference between a Sata (2) cable and a Sata 3 cable My computer has Sata connections on the motherboard Can I use a solid state drive that has Sata 3 connections with my motherboard ?

  1. They're both compatible with each other. If for example you used a SATA III SSD in a SATA II port, the SSD would work just fine, it just would have the transfer capabilities of SATA II, which is somewhat slower.
