Red CPU Led on Sabertooth p67

Just brought home a Sabertooth p67 motherboard, i5 2400 cpu and a new gfx card. Installed everything pretty easily. Start up for the first time and the CPU led is red and my monitor is in standby. Everything seems ok with fans and hd, but when I start up the computer it goes on for a second only to power down again before starting back up seconds later. A few times it did not do this but rather started normally. Only hear one beep when powering up. 600 PSU. Is my CPU broken? One of the fasteners(?) for the stock cpu fan is stuck, so I cant get a look at the cpu without breaking it I think. Have tried removing parts and flashing + a mem ok button on the motherboard. Any tips?
