that board certainly does support DDR3 1600.

i am running the Z77 Extreme4-M right now with 16GB of G.skill Ripjaws X (4x4gb) DDR3-1600.

you won't get a huge performance increase, seeing as the CAS latency is the same, but you will have more headroom for overclocking and have a more 'up-to-date' part for just a few $ extra.

other than that the build looks good. - i might want to switch the SSD for a diff. manufacture and add a 1TB spinpoint f3, but thats for you to work out (check the SSD reviews on tom's homepage).

thanks for the feedback on the ram, I think I will go with the ones you linked.

I have looked at many choices for ssd and crucial is a good mix of reliability performance and price. also I have a Hdd already i'm pairing it with.
