7950 Price Drop?

Hi everyone I'm looking to buy a graphics card for my gaming build. I am looking at the 7950 or 680 right now. My budget is roughly $400, so either way ill be stretching my budget a bit. Anyways, will the prices on the 7950 and 7970 drop because of the competition with the 680? should i just suck it up and get the 680?

IF you can afford the 680, it's a far better option than either the 7950 or 7970 right now for the money.

I think you're gonna be waiting a little while to see price drops down to $400 on the 7950. I haven't heard anything about AMD dropping prices, though they definitely need to.

or, do you think i should pick up a 580 now that everyone is selling them off used to get the 680?

Another option....twin 900 Mhz 560 Ti's still outperform the 680 by about 100 fps in Guru3D game test suite for $100 less .... however at this point, might wanna see what the 660 does.

i only want to run a single gpu, and my psu is only 650w.

when are the 660ti and 670 coming out?

I'd leave used hardware alone, but then again I'm a cautious soul.
You do n't tell us the rest of this builds' specs, particularly the monitor resolution, you may not need a '680.
Exactly which PSU do you have? Powersupplies are like paint: Some are fine, high gloss, others are just whitewash.
FYI I'm running a lightly modded HD6950. There's very little it ca n't run at max, evn at 1920x1080.

I don't think you need a gtx680. a gtx 560ti should probably play everything you want at any setting, a 580 most definately will

Get one HD 7870 2GB for around 350$ same performance than one gtx580 and better compute than one 680.
