General Computing

I am planning on building a new gaming rig once the Ivy Bridge comes out, and I was planning on picking up a GTX 680 and adding another for SLI later in the year near Christmas time. But I have read about its terrible general computing capabilities, and I don't quite understand what that entails. All I really plan on doing is gaming and web use, i.e. videos/music. Is this something I should worry about, or will it not really affect what I plan on using the computer for? Thanks.

If your primary purpose is gaming, don't worry about it.

Anything, including embedded (built in) graphics, will work for general computing. Any graphics card costing more than $50 is overkill. Modern 3D games, however, will use just about all of the graphics horsepower that you have available.
