Hey guys, I've been reading all types of stuff about new builds on this forum, and I'm excited to start mine as well. It's been something I've wanted to do for years, but never had the money or the time until now. Well to be honest, I still shouldn't spend the money, but I'm going to anyway haha.

Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as I decide on what parts to use.

Budget Range: ~~$500 (+/- $50)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Basically all I will be doing is streaming video, playing video games that are not all that resource intensive, and other tasks like using the internet and word processing. I will be using Ubuntu operating system.

Parts Not Required: I have a case already from a friend, it's an Antec Three Hundred.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg

Country: USA

Here is my current idea for my build, any suggestions for improvements or saving money or both are encouraged!

CPU: intel i3-2120

PSU: Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3

Motherboard: Intel BOXDH61BEB3 LGA 1155 Intel H61
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.915551

note: on newegg i found a combo deal where I get both the i3 and the h61 for $183

GPU: I'm not really sure about this one, its what I need help with the most I think

Memory: Just gonna buy a pack of 2 x 4GB 240pin DDR3 1333 RAM, not sure on what brand is good.

HDD: I want to get a refurbished one ~250GB, seagate.

Overclocking: No

SLI/Crossfire?: Maybe

Edit: I also live near a microcenter and would like to play games on the halflife2 engine, like counter strike source, and maybe starcraft 2. I dont really care about the graphics settings, they can all be on low.

Yeah I can play all the games on linux, and im thinking of buying the cheapest monitor i can get my hands on to be honest. something like this: HannsG HL161ABB 16" Class Widescreen LED Backlit Monitor - 1366 x 768, 16:9, 500:1, 16ms, VGA, Energy Star

playing counterstrike and starcraft 2 are not major concerns, if it doesnt work, it doesnt work.

look at micro center there doing ib chip and mb combo. with the ram you want to look at the mb ram guild to see if it on. one of the better rams that are on sale at micro center in vengance low profile memory or kingston blue ram. gskill memory has a higher rate of doa and large heat sinks that sometime dont fit under the cpu cooler.
