Hey. I have an ASRock Z77 Extreme6 motherboard, intel core i5 2500k cpu. I use it mostly for gaming. I am thinking about getting a sound card soon, but I have never had one before, so I have some questions. Her they go: Would a sound card make any difference at all? how much would it cost to hear a difference? Any recommendations around that price? And lastly, if you need more specs, I can gladly provide them.

Thanks in advance!

sound cards are usually a subjective experience, totally dependant on your ears and speakers. If you going to buy a decent sound card (ie not some $30 card) and only have $20 speakers then dont expect any improvement. If you have $400 speakers then yeah, you should hear a better sound quality unless your hearing is as bad as mine.

Some people swear by sound cards, but most people don't have them.

If you consider yourself a conniseur of sound you will probably want one, but if you grew up on MP3s you probably won't.

This response is coming from someone who almost always has the sound completely off on their PC even during gaming, keep that in mind.
