I'm currently running with a i3 2100k. well today I'm going to buy a new processor, and im lost at which is best for me to buy. here are the links for the 2 http://www.microcenter.com/product/388577/Core_i5_3570K...

http://www.microcenter.com/product/376491/Core_i7_2700K...

and yes i built my pc for gaming specifically. and the types of games im playing are pretty much bf3 and torchlight along with others... so can someone please help me because i was told the i7 isnt good for gaming, because of hyper threading. but im a little nervous because i want my pc future proofed. oh and my gpu is a 6950. so plz suggestions??

The i5 is considered the best value for money. It's not that the i7 is bad, its just that the extra cost isn't really worth it. Hyperthreading can be disabled if it was causing issue. The i7 also has more L3 cache which in some CPU intensive games can boost FPS e.g. SC2.

If you have money to burn, get an i7. If you don't then confidently buy the i5.
