Processor comparison

Hello,
Obviously I don't know anything about computers but I own a Pentium 4 2.40GHz, 2GB RAM. I'm looking at a AMD Dual-Core E-300 accelerated 1.30GHz system. Which is faster?

My budget is about $400. All I want to do is be able to play the games on Facebook and use AOL to chat. That's about it.

The AMD I think is faster. It has decent graphics even.

So it will be perfect for your needs. but if you get something like the A4-3300M will be more reliable and faster.
And I'm guessing you're talking about a laptop with these CPUs.

I was thinking the AMD accelerated dual-core would be faster but I just didn't know. I appreciate everyone's responses. They're really helping me in an area where I'm completely lost. The unit I'm look at is an HP AMD dual-core E-300 1.30 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HD. My current system is Pentium 4 2.40 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, 40 GB HD.

Yes it's cool, but you'd be better off if you looking for something with AMD A4 APU.

It may be a bit more pricey than what you're looking for, but it is within you budget and well worth the cost. 4GB of RAM for someone like you would be very very plentiful. There are 4 threads (cores) at 2.53Ghz, much better than what you have now and that AMD machine that you were looking at.
