GTX 550 Ti vs. GTX 460

So, I'm not sure which one I plan on getting, and truly need advice from someone more experienced, which one should I get?

I'm referring to the 550 Ti, not the 560 Ti.

The 460's significantly better, even though that model's got a lame 192-bit memory interface, which stalls its performance. The 6850's much better at a similar price, though, so go that way.

Sorry about that my bad and ^+1 to Kajabla. I should have seen that I guess we all have our moments. I have two 550 ti's and the 460 out does them both. But if you have the right PSU.

So lets try this again. The 460 vs the 6850. The second one is 460 vs 550ti.

To reiterate, the OP's linked 460, basically the only one available today, has a 192-bit memory interface and performs significantly more poorly. That bench is for the 256-bit version; you can tell because it trades blows with the 6850. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-3.html

The 460 has an older architecture, but overclocks amazingly. I would get the 460.

I'm still using a 460... it plays everything maxed (or close to maxed) at 1680x1050, and its a much better value for money than the 560ti.

Guys. Please listen to what I've been saying. The OP's 460, the only one available today, is not the same 460 that's in your machines and in my own. Its memory interface is different, and its performance is different. It's not comparable to the 6850, but it still costs just as much.

No. The 1gb version now comes with the 192-bit bus, so I believe it performs pretty similarly to the 768mb version, which you can no longer find.

@OP to be honest, I would say get the 550Ti because the 192bit version doesn't overclock nearly as well as the 256-bit one from what I know, and has worse performance.

Of course you could go with 6850, but if you use anything OpenGL based, stick with nVidia. My GTS250 gets better performance when it comes to OpenGL than my three 6950s

Do not get the 550 ti the 6850 is better then the 550. Like Kajabla said that 460 will not work like the older one's and besides nVidia is fazing them out. So here is a link the 550 vs 6850. Op I hope this helps.
