Hello,
Someone please explain to me if I can overclock a 3570k on a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P motherboard, because I have an opprotunity to buy it for cheap, and can't afford anything more, and I need SLI support on it.
I read somewhere that it can't overclock Ivy Bridge CPU's, is that really true?

yes, that is the page i wieved a few days agi.
So it means that I can't overclock that Ivy Brigde CPU one single bit?

That article was from half a year ago, did they not release the patch they said they were going to?

Also, a multiplier limit of x39 is not that big of a deal when using recommended OCing practices that call for a higher base clock and a lower processor multiplier.

I would, however, be worried about getting an old BIOS version that won't even accept an IB chip. If the BIOS isn't a newer on then it wouldn't recognize the IB chip at all.

The best idea either way is just to get a Z77 that is guaranteed to have UEFI and compatibility with IB out of the box.
