Can I burn a Windows 7 OS and use it on a custom built system?

Will the serial code for the original OS still work for the burnt one if I use it on my custom built pc?

Main question is, will it work? Because I don't want to spend like $200 for a brand new full retail box.

it will install but once you try and activate it you will have to pay

if your in school or collage you can get microsoft product at a reduced cost.check to see if your school on the list. if your dead broke and need a ligit os there windows 8 cs that good for a few months..the final test version of windows 8 will be out soon. that should have a 6-8 month window before it expires.
