Before you read I am sorry if there is grammatical errors I am posting from my iPhone.

Hello all!

My dell laptop is a big price of crap and Im ready to move on. I have a few ideas but I need opinions. First off is CPU, I have my eye on the FX 8120. I dont know if it is worth waiting for the A10 but I am thinking about that i it is released soon. My main purpose for this computer is to play minecraft and I also do heavy video edditing. I want to play Mc at max settigs and get over 100 Fps while still have enough power to record with fraps or use livestream. I have a case. My current things I am for sure getting is a 1TB Hd, raidmax case w/ 500w psu, and 8GB ram. I already have an OS as well. I need opinions though on a CPU, mobo, and gfx cards. My top budget is $500. I need a mobo that has 4 ram slots for future needs. Another thing about a cpu is that should I wait for 2nd gen bulldozer and when is it out? I dont know crap about gfx cards.

Thx

You can get over 100FPS in Minecraft with an i3.
DO NOT go for the FX-8120.

Personally I don't think you need an "epic" PC for what you intend on doing.
You should not use a RaidMax PSU though. You can get a Corsair CX430 for around $20 after rebate.

Do you intend to run any visual mods on Minecraft like Sonic Ether?

Bulldozer CPUs and Epic don't go together in the same machine

The Fx 8120 is an excellent cpu for video . With a little overclocking to FX 8150 speeds it will match all but the very fastest of the intel socket 1155 processors , and its cheaper than those so its decent value .

Minecraft is not challenging .

You need a motherboard with a 970 series chipset , or 990 .
Budget and features then probably the ASUS M5A97 evo , or if your case doesnt have front USB 3 then just the M5A97 .

2 x4 gig of DDR3 1600 MHz RAM rated for 1.5 volt

The raidmax case/psu is unlikely to be decent quality . You need a power supply thats 80+ bronze [ or better] rated . If it has a small red voltage switch on the back its junk .
Antec make decent cases with PSU's

You need a graphics card to game . Something like a Radeon 6850 should work for you
That means a psu of about 500 watts is ideal

it i was building the pc i use an i-5 2450 ib from micro center it 149.00. and 139.00 mb asrock. for a video card the 560 ti or the 7850 would max out your build. the 560 ti are 199 with rebate on new egg. the 7850 running 240.00 on new egg. for your ram check that it 1.5-1.6v ddr3 ram. 1066/1333/1600. if it faster then 1600 your fine. if it higher then 1.65 volts it wont work in the new mb from intel.

I forgot to add I also run a server that around 4 people play on all the time, the max that it has ever been is 8. It will get much more once we get the map done and we advertise. Just wondering why wouldn't the AMD FX be better than intel? It is 3.1 Ghz and 8 cores. From my understanding wouldn't it be 3.1 * 8? Intel only has four cores. Also why is raidmax so bad? The case designs look so sleek and its a decent price.

Raidmax and quality are two words that should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Raidmax to me is the computer equivalent of Hammer Tech from Iron Man - they produce a lot of cheap junk for high profit margins.

Why is this? I like to multitask so I play MC on like 2 cores (Optifine Multicore) and some be for IRC, some be for chrome ect. I keep herring the i5 2500k is so good well can I fit it in a build that is around $550 and still get that 100 fps? Should I start to wait for "Trinity" A10 or Bulldozer 2?

Quote:
GPU is what matters for FPS...
Bulldozer shines in highly threaded software... that is rather like 5% of people...

For all other tasks sandybridge kicks serious arse.

For games - Sandy Bridge is leaps and bounds better than AMD, for multimedia heavy apps AMD is somewhat better but it still needs a lot of work before its' perfected.

And yes the GPU is the most important part of a gaming build bar none.

So once again, I need a good build that will easily get me more that 100 fps with max settings.

If you want 100fps or more, CF 7870s is easily going to get you that.

Not sure that's obtainable on a $500 budget - you may want to set your sights a bit higher and save some more money.

Why is it that everyone wants 1 Zillons FPS, If you have a game that is set to very high settings and all the eye candy on

if one PC does 30+ FPS and dont drop below that and cost 800 bucks - Or one that plays at 1 Zillion FPS and cost 5000K

I am spending 800 bucks lol
