Q - Fax over GSM? John Navas??

Can John Navas or someone else explain if/how I can fax using a regular
fax machine connected to a V3 using phonelabs Dock 'n Talk? (Yes I know
the device doesn't claim to support fax).

It dials successfully, but when the call is answered it gets as far as
"Connecting" and then errors out. Is it because the digital signal
isn't reliable enough, ala analog, to communicate properly?

The problem is likely related to the fact that the data gets corrupted by
the sampling/compression of the phone. Your compressed data from the fax
machine gets sampled as audio, then compressed again before it is
transmitted. At the other end, the system is trying to decipher what turns
out to be incomplete data and the fax connection drops. Analog phones worked
because the fax data was simply sent as an analog modulation of the signal.
You're not likely to get any GSM phone to work for fax, unless the phone
itself is generating the data packet. (being used as the fax modem.)
