I'm buying a new system and I'm curious, will this PSU be enough to support it all :
http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6700

System :
- Asus SABERTOOTH 990fx
- AMD fx-4100 ( I will overclock it to max )
- Asus EAH6850 v2
- 2x4GB Mushkin redline 1866MHz
- 120GB Mushkin Chronos SSD (not deluxe)

Tell me if I forgot to mention something :D

no. if you plan to overclock, get something like a 650w psu. you will have enough juice to run crossfire/sli and overclock your cpu. just to mention, you will need a graphics card as fx processors dont have intergrated graphics

Help anyone ? You can't be serious with 650w system , my friend is running similar system on 350w :|

you mad bro? fx 4100 eats 95w at stock. 6850 eats around 125w= 220w. if you overclock, you get 200w tdp with a single fx chip= 325w. by then, your psu will sound like a jet engine and will fail quite easily. then you have to add your drives and all the other peripherals. getting 550-650w will be optimal to make sure your system runs fine.

Worst case scenario on PSU calculators says I need 350w :|

they arent always great. they are robots and dont factor in if you a more power hungry chip

Well currently I can only afford GX450 , if I take anything more expensive I'll exceed my budget. . .
May 29, 2012 4:26:11 PM

Well I have ~50 euros to spend on PSU in Serbia , can you recommend me some ? Also I haven't bought case yet , but I plan on buying one with PSU on the bottom , just so you know .

I have NO clue as to prices in Serbia:(

If you are on a budget, it is OK to buy a cheap case.
It does not matter if the psu is on the bottom or the top.

But, the only case I would buy that included a PSU is Antec. Others are mostly junk.

DO NOT go cheap on the psu for many reasons.

Select wattage , type in names or anything , prices are in euros so it should be easy for you to go around :) )

You are on your own here. I see NO brands that I am familiar with, let alone heard of. Sorry.

You will have to do some searching of reviews to get some sense of wuality.

The Silverstone Strider Essential ST50F-ES 500 watt is an excellent power supply and the only brand I see on that website I have ever heard of.

http://pcberza.rs/detaljnije/desk/127-10676/

If you want to look around some more Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, XFX, Silverstone, Enermax, OCZ and Antec are all quality brands. You can probably add Kingwin to that list.

Also you would usually only need a 450w power supply for that system but the AMD FX chips are so inefficient they can pull a huge amount of power when overclocked so you are better off going over what's recommended a bit. I would go with 500 watts minimum.
May 29, 2012 7:57:44 PM

For one 6850, 500W is the max you will need.
May 29, 2012 8:34:17 PM

First to say that Cooler Master is relatively well known name here and I trust them :D

Secnd is my question , I just got a bump in a budget ( $_$ ) should I spend it on a 650w quality PSU or maybe get a fx-6100 + 550w ???
May 29, 2012 8:43:12 PM

Don't try to push the PSU's ability. FX processors are already notoriously power hungry. Overclocked to the max and it'll be draining your wall socket of electrons.

Spend your extra cash on not just more Wattage. Spend it on quality by looking for the brands mentioned above.

CM Silent Pro is good, but every other CM PSU is crap.
May 29, 2012 9:32:10 PM

I guess fx6100 isn't much improvement over fx4100 when it comes to gaming . . .
May 29, 2012 10:05:10 PM

Well I have an AMD graphics card and I'm kinda superstitious when it comes to chip mixing :|

It matters not one bit what CPU and graphics cards brands you run together. Besides Intel and Nvidia are different companies. For a long time an Intel CPU paired with an AMD card was the best you could get. Intel CPUs still are but the new GTX 6xx line from Nvidia is very good.
May 29, 2012 10:18:30 PM

Can you tell me an equivalent build using intel and asus ( I maybe give up amd , but not asus :D  )

Edit1: Forgot to mention that I already bought the graphic card , so no nVidia for me :D

i5 3570k or i3 2120+p8z77 LK
May 29, 2012 10:29:45 PM

Blue motherboard eeeeeeeeww that stinks xD
May 29, 2012 10:38:22 PM

Then get the ASRock Z77 Extreme4.

May 29, 2012 10:40:23 PM

yep extreme4 is the way to go. i only picked the LK based on the fact that you liked asus
May 29, 2012 10:40:57 PM

With intel I can keep the stock cooler ?
a b Ĉ ASUS
May 29, 2012 10:45:47 PM

no they suck ass. if you are getting a i3 chip, it will work fine. if you plan on the i5 3570k and overclocking, no, the stock cooler will not survive 4.3ghz
May 29, 2012 10:46:49 PM

Yes, but it will be pretty loud even at stock. I ran my computer for a short while on the stock cooler and it sounded like a low level leaf blower, which is still pretty noisy.

I dont have the budget for 3570k or even 2500k and everything else feels like downgrading :|

Don't worry about it.
Not everybody has a big budget.
The key to good gaming at any budget is to have a good balance between the cpu and gpu capabilities.
Think about spending twice as much for your graphics card as your cpu.
Today, a $100 cpu and a $200 graphics card can give you very good gaming.

May 29, 2012 11:03:10 PM

then i3 2120 will do. it doesnt overclock but it will kill any fx chip out there in games. it will not beat fx in situations where you use a lot of threads
May 29, 2012 11:03:34 PM

So what's a good match for my HD6850 ?

TheBigTroll : Yea I was thinking about that , are those 5-8 fps worth downgrading to dual core system and worse multitasking or multi-threading ?
May 29, 2012 11:04:18 PM

I wish I had waited a week before purchasing so I could have gotten a Radeon 7970 for the price I bought the Radeon 7950. :/

If you are thinking about a 2120, go to newegg and read the feedback reports from verified users.
They are overwhelmingly positive.
