3930K vs 3820 for audio work

I have the budget to buy 3930K but not sure if I'll feel the difference over 3820 in my work .

Now I have core 2 quad q6600 with 4 GB RAM ( got it before started using audio programs ) so I can't say where is the bottleneck for me as with this current build it crashes every 15-20 minutes .

Suggestions?

I would say both are overkill for music/audio editing.
Get a 3770k, it will do just as good a job.
Drop in to the systems forum if you want advice on the rest of the build.

A 3770K. The 3820 is basically a more-expensive 2600K on SB-E.
