I just recently got this new graphics card and used to have a 550 ti. I try to play starcraft 2 on max settings like it says I can and I have 45 fps average but my friend with a 560 handles max just fine with 60 fps. How can I fix this?

Ok then, you can try this. Reinstalling W7 (just if you know that your installation is little old). But its just a tip. If you dont have a change, thats a bottleneck whit your athlon X4.

How could I know, you still haven't told us what processor YOU have......I mean seriously, this is not the psychic friends network.

If it's a 4100 and you have AthlonII, they should be about the same. In fact the Athlon is likely faster than the 4100.

The 480 is faster than the 560, so I'm not sure why. Are you running the exact same settings and resolution?

A full reinstall is just silly.

Starcraft 2 is much more CPU than GPU dependent. Seeing as your friend as the 4100 and you have the X4 it makes sense that he has a higher FPS rate. Also do you know what GPU your friend is running as well?

Ok if I overclock it from 200 x15 to 225 x15 and now its at 60 fps would that damage my processor and its a AMD Athlon II X4 640 even though i stated it before i will do so again for some people.

So you overclocked it and now you get higher fps, well that's good. Just make sure your temps stay under 62c.

I can't really help you if you don't answer my questions. Are you both running the same resolution???? What resolution?

Your friends FX4100 is the worst new gaming cpu you could possibly buy.

Oh sorry yes we are its 1920x 1080 but that little of a increase shouldnt hurt it right cus the temp is only 21 right now in idle.

Just played a game of league and some starcraft 2 and highest is 25 degree C

Here is what we want you to do, download Prime 95, let it run for atleast 15 minutes, tell us the temps with it still running.

(also what exact processor do you have, if you don't know CPU-Z will tell you) (and what program are you getting temps from?)

Also if you can ask him to send you a screenshot or atleast write down what settings he is using.

(er and I maxed LoL out with a x3 and 5670 o_0 try updating your drivers? worth a shot...)

What is your problem? Will he use 100% of the cpu load even once? i dunno. And if for a reason the cpu fail, it will crash 1, 2, 3 times and THERE IS YOUR PROBLEM, tweac OC and we are all fine again. It happened to me once, gone from 4,0 GHZ to 3,8 Ghz. The sistem should turn off at several temp. And 25º isnt a brutal number for that use.

My problem is you have no idea what your talking about.

Will he use 100% of the cpu load even once? Well lord I hope so, most of us do.

Most of us prefer to keep our cpu's under temp spec. so it DOESN'T crash 1, 2, 3 X from overheating.

If your dumb enough to let it overheat to the point it crashes over and over in order to judge the stability of your overclock, well then you just not very smart about electronics.

A bit confused as to what your getting at here... a system shutting down because its overheating is NOT a good thing to any part of the pc, its the same reason as to why you don't yank out the power cord when its on.

You actually will be using 100% of your cpu ALOT actually, even booting up you use around 80% for a while

You getting on about it being ok to go outside of manufacturers spec just because 50% of the time the pc will be idling is just idiotic.

Edit: oh and that 25c was near idle temps, my cpu idles at 20c but gets around 15c over ambient (which doesn't say alot as my ambients can get around 110F)

If starcraft or league or any other game isnt 100% load then it shouldnt matter for me because thats the hardest I go on my comp.

Then yeah, I guess its ok, as long as you NEVER get up to 100% load, EVER. and your ambient temperature NEVER changes, aswell as your voltages are fine then by all means go for it.
