I just installed a gtx 560 ti my friend did it for me. So I had to dust the crap out of this PC and I took out the heat sink cause it was caked with dust. I upgraded from a radeon HD 6670 and I can tell the gtx 560 ti is gonna be great BUT. After installing it I played skyrim on bassicly on max settings then the FPS drops horribley. I look at my temp program ((speed fan)) and its almost 100 degrees!!!!!!! Now I have the case laying on its side because my heatsink is so bad that I can only get on of the four pins to work and stay all the other ones broke some how so my main question is if I get a better heat sink will this fix my problem and if I get like 3 more fans (I already orderd all of the stuff fans heat sink etc.) will this fix my problem? Normally at idle it runs a 70 so theirs obviously somthing wrong with this rig. Also the gpu got a little into 45 degrees but I expct it to go away once I properly have air flow in the case its not a smal casse i would say medium-large.

My build
I5 2500k sandy bridge
8gb ddr3 ram
XTREME GEAR 600w PSU
1TB hard drive
1GB EVGA gtx 560 ti

YESSSSSSS! Holy effing crap dude! Idling at 70c is WAY too high! Your heatsink MUST be PROPERLY seated, WITH THERMAL PASTE, otherwise you are going to run into the issues that you are having.

When you get the new heat sink, make sure ALL pins/screws and in place and that the heat sink is snuggly settled on the processor (with thermal paste in-between the heat sink and processor). Make sure to only use a pea sized blob of paste though, otherwise it will be too much.

By the way, GPU temp of 45 c is nothing to worry about. The GPU at load may hit as high as 82c and be good.

Yea thanks I kinda figured that the heat sink was the problem I just wish the heat sink fan I had wasnt a piece of crap took it off once and I sat their for over and hour getting it to pop back in and I only got one to go. Stuff will be here tommorow so hopefully when I put the heat sink fan on with the paste it will be fine plus i am going to add some fans I could tell the card was gonna be good fps wise but it was only for like 5 seconds but thank you all for your input have a goog one.
