SATA controller for WD Caviar Black 6gb/s

I plan on installing windows on a 120gb SSD. I know that I should change the SATA controller to AHCI for the SSD.

I plan on using the HDD for data storage. Do i need to change the SATA controller?

  1. You change the SATA controller's mode in the BIOS, setting it to AHCI is recommended when there are SSDs in your computer.
  2. I'd change the controller to AHCI mode anyway, even without an SSD. Hard drives also have extra features (like NCQ) which can only be used in AHCI mode.
