CPU cooler tips

Is it safe to twist the CPU cooler before taking it off the CPU? I heard that it is better to do that before taking off the cooler because you might take the CPU with it. But i think by twisting, you could break the CPU pins. idk but i twist the cooler before taking it off

If it isn't stuck on the CPU then its safe, if its stuck, warm the heatsink a little then try.

And make sure you unsecure it.

So i should just turn on the PC and stress it a bit to make the heatsink hot and then turn it off and remove the cooler?

You can use a hair dryer, better than risking the CPU getting damaged from overheating.

Hah it was stuck if i tried to gently twist it but as i twisted it a bit harder it came off and the CPU was undamaged. although the PC was working for 5 mins before i did it
