i have an p2 400mhz computer with sis 5600 chipset
i know thet the chipset support DMA and my seagate st43421a
also support it, i am using windows default drivers because
on the sis website they recommand windows defaults
please help? i cant work in this slow PIO4 mode.

Is that an IDE drive? Don't know if the following also applies for SCSI.
Check that UDMA is enabled in both the BIOS and OS. BUT, if you're using Win 2000, try disabling DMA in the BIOS. This should allow DMA to be enabled in the os.

Otherwise, make sure the drive isn't being slowed down by a slower device on the same cable (like a CD ROM or similar).
