Overheat, system performance slowing down.

Hi, I use "Speedfan" to control the % of the rpm of my fans in my case.

My build is :

i5-2500k
Gtx460
Corsair 650 tx.
MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67
2 scythe fans.
COOLER MASTER HAF 912
2x2 g.skill ripjaw ddr3

Since the beginning, the cpu socket had tension on the cpu when I inserted it. I returned the board and asked for a replacement, but the same issue occurred, so I believe that's normal for this board(?).

My case is the CM HAF 912.

My temps are always 100+ ... someone told me that was normal, since computer parts were made to handle higher temps. I have used arctic silver..

I also have an aftermarket CM cpu fan .

Any ideas on how to decrease my temps ? thanks for the help!

100+ celcius or farenheit. You should NOT be over 70c at any time and it would be risky to continue to run that rig. If in C then perhaps the AS5 wasn't applied evenly, or maybe the cooler isn't seated all the way... ?? The cooler is where you should start.

That being said, how are your two fans set up in the HAF 912? Ideally you want intake fans on the front / bottom / side, and exhaust on the rear / top. This will promote front-to-back airflow.

100+ farenheit. 127 in farenheit is the highest i've seen it hit so far.

i have 4 fans, but the scythe are the strongest. the others are stock. I have a scythe on the front, and a scythe on the top. Now that i think about it, would it be optimal to put the scythe on the front and back ? rather than top and front ?

edit : also all my fans are exhaust, so I should be switching it up i suppose.

I will look on the cooler, and reapply some AS5. Thank you for the response.

Yep! You aren't pulling in any "cool" air. Change the front and side fans to be intake, then leave the others as exhaust. In a perfect world the Scythe fans should be doing to exhaust work, but in the real world it won't matter much between the Scythe and the stock fans. Noise would be the only reason I would move them around in the case...

I now am under 50 C, but should I be getting lower temps with as5?

Also, how do I tell if my comp is better in stock compared to oc-ed ?
