I'm considering adding discrete graphics to my htpc, when is Nvidia's competitor to the 7750 releasing? Is it the 640? If so isn't that 33% higher tdp than the 7750? Just wondering if I'm missing something because if the 640 is the competitor Nvidia stands to lose a lot of htpc sales.

a 7750 is more powerful than you need for an htpc. Unless it has a non-standard HTPC purpose i wouldn't go higher than a 6570. Only 10W higher tdp. It will even play 4k movies when they come out.

I don't follow gpus that haven't been released yet since everything always changes. For instance what's planned to be the "640" could be a "630" or "650" depending on the market. The have their own code names, the sale name is arbitrary.

I understand that a 7750 is more powerful than I need for HTPC, but I might do some mild gaming on the system. Getting all of its power from the slot is an attractive feature.
