One 7850 is 260$ on newegg
An older 6850 costs 130$
The new southern island architecture is a huge step foreward
But I'm wondering if in crossfire the older gen can beat it
Compared in high resolution and high anti aliaing modes should

The performance of the 6850 CF is going to be little bit faster than 7850, but not noticeable in real life. But 6850 CF configuration consume about double the power of 7850, and you'll run through issues.

So because of this reasons, I would go with 7850 personally. Except you have a 6850 already on your PC, there is no reason for CF-ing. If you have 6850 already, then that's a whole new story, because you can safe money more to other useful stuff.

First off, please don't necro old threads.

Secondly, to answer your question, get the 7850 2gb. A new 6850 1gb is $130 while a new 7850 2gb is $170. Get the 7850 2gb and sell your 6850 on eBay / Craigslist.

OR wait until sometime in Q1 next year and get a new Radeon 8xxx.
