I have a Core 2 Duo E6700 @ 2.7 (2.66) Ghz.

My current setup is 6GB of DDR2 667 MHz ram, a GeForce 9800GT 1GB, and a E6700 Core 2 Duo.

I was wondering if getting a GTX 550 Ti would yield a noticeable performance increase in games, or at least get rid of the mouse input lag I have on many games, and if it would match well with my processor (I know it will bottleneck, but how badly?).

3DMark 06 Benchmark with current setup (9800GT)
I ran 3D Mark 06. I got a total of 8,526.

SM2.0 Scored 4040, HDR/SM3.0 Scored 4258, and CPU scored 1697.

Real Life Benchmarks with current setup (9800GT)
As it stands right now, I can generally max most games (1650x1050 Res), with AA x8 or FXAA on. Ambient Occulsion is a big no (FPS drop and massive mouse input lag). Any Valve Source game is 41-120 FPS maxed with 16x AA, but sometimes with some input lag, Assassin's Creed Revelations plays Maxed around 40 FPS, but can drop to 25 ish briefly when looking off into the distance (Which I believe to be my CPU's fault). Borderlands 2 with Ambient Occulsion Off and View distance on High (rather than Extreme) yields me an almost constant 29 fps, with some slight mouse input lag, and minor fps drops in heavy action. Dead Island maxed at around 35-50 fps with minor mouse input lag. Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas are all maxed, usually run at 30+ FPS, but I get extreme mouse input lag on all three of them. Mirror's Edge Maxed, get a constant 28-60 fps depending on where I'm looking (Way off into the distance in the city gives lower performance than being indoors or in an enclosed area).

I've seen other top posters on these forums saying an E6300 would work perfectly fine with a 550 for "A while".

I want to know if it would be worth putting a 550 in my PC or not.

It will work, just make sure you have a power supply that can power it.

I've went through 6 driver updates for my card so far and nothing ever changed with the whole input lag thing.

(Yeah It's a pretty good show, you're the first person here to catch onto it.)
