hacked firmware for the canon powershot s2

Hello.
I've decided to order the canon powershot s2 and I was wondering if
there was any hacked firmware available or if this can be expected to
become available any time soon?
I'm particularly interested in removing some of the limitations like
max 100 timed-interval shots and the 1 gb movie limit.
It would also be great if a firmware hack would allow mpeg movie
encoding. Does anyone know if this is even possible by means of a
firmware hack?

Thanks in advance for any feedback, kind regards, Niek

Yeah ok, I thought that might be impossible without additional
hardware. How about the ability to save raw images (tif), could that be
possible somehow with a firmware hack?

Then how come varioua other photocameras don't seem to have any
problems with recording movies without any limitations like this (only
being limited by the amount of memory in the camera)?

Yeah, my hack can convert it to make toast ! ;-)
Sorry Niek, don't think there is much hope. The code is all "closed
source" and would take ages to reverse engineer

since mpeg encoding in normal PC takes ages, i would assume that doing this
in simple camera would definitely need hardware chip and not only software
program. It would take weeks...
If you need more that 1G, i suggest you buy video camera and not S2. This
type is meant for short movie clips, not long term shooting.
interval shots...well, this we could talk about...

Canon is known for these artificial limitations on their still cameras.
They're not in a big hurry to undercut their other markets (prosumer/
G-series, dSLRs, camcorders etc), but a few of these limitations
(e.g. raw mode, movie clip length) should be going away eventually.
If not with a firmware upgrade on the S2, certainly on future models
in the Sx series.

This could be possible, i guess. But a lot of knowledge of the current
firmware is needed...

Good question...maybe it's some kind of file limitation...maybe computer
onboard can't write so much numbers and so stops at 999.999.999...

its about your question ((How about the ability to save raw images (tif), could that be
possible somehow with a firmware hack?))

i found some file on the net but its not a fw upgrade and it was some sort of extention for basic fw and this program will let you to take raw pictures
