Will the Radeon HD 5670 run on pci e x16?

I just bought ATI Radeon HD 5670 1gb ddr3. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE G31M-S2L with intel c2d e7300 2.66 ghz and 2 gb ram. I just found out that my mobo supports pci express x16 v1. Therefore will this pcie 2.1 card work on pcie 1.0?

It should, but many people have encountered problems with 2.1 in a 1.0 mobo.
