Elusive ribbon cable

Hello,
I've spend ages trying to find a replacement ribbon cable for an ASUS UL30T laptop.
It seems that the numbers on the cable can represent a number of different types:
JI-HAW AWM E118077 2896
It's about 15 cm long and 40mm wide. It has 12 connectors, but they're stacked at the connector ends so that there are two rows of 6 contacts, not 12 in a row.
Every time I follw a link to the exact numbers, it comes up with a different cable. Is there any definitive way to find this cable please? I can't afford to spend a fortune sending my laptop back to ASUS, and they won't tell me how to get a replacement! Any help would be MOST GRATEFULLY received! Nick

I own a laptop repair company....

Asus are APPALLING at parts for lappies, they make it extremely hard to buy parts from not only them but also to disseminate the parts to trade suppliers...


You have two choices...imho.... give up or send it to Asus (and I wouldnt bet it would be fixed or replaced properly either (secretly mark any parts you expect replacing)
