Something just happened to my task scheduler. (XP SP2) It turns off at
reboot. After reboot I click a task and get a message that says "general page
initialization failed" "0X80041315" "Task scheduler service not running" I go
to advanced and click start and it runs. I reboot and it is off again.

Check Event Viewer for details. Start|Run|eventvwr.msc

When you view the logged events in Event Viewer in the upper right corner,
third button down is a copy to clipboard, then you can paste in the body of
a reply message.

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') since last boot so we can see all of the event detail.

I can view the system event log. I can filter so that only error and warning
show. But I can't find any button is the upper right hand corner or anything
that says copy to clipboard.

I do have these events in this order:
error 1/20/05 12:25:58 service control manager none 7023 n/a
error 1/20/05 11:50:56 ditto above
warning 1/20/05 11:46:44 server none 2510 n/a
error 1/20/05 11:41:21 service control manager 70023 n/a

Right now I have turned the task scheduler back on. I will reboot and look
at the new log and let you know.

FYI, I just did this:

I followed the path Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services ->
Task Scheduler -> Set to auto.
It worked.

Thanks.
